We’re looking for an experienced and commercially minded Head of Technical Services to lead our Technical function across Monsoon and Accessorize.
This is a broad leadership role with responsibility for product quality, fit, safety and compliance across our apparel and non-apparel categories, alongside leadership of our sustainability and ethical trade strategy and programmes.\
Leading a talented team of Garment and Product Technologists, you’ll work closely with Buying, Design, Merchandising, Sourcing and Supply Chain to ensure we create products our customers love, while maintaining high standards across product quality, responsible sourcing and our global supply base.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading the Technical Services, sustainability and ethical trade strategy across Monsoon and Accessorize.
- Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing team of Garment and Product Technologists.
- Owning our approach to product quality, fit, construction and technical standards across apparel, accessories, footwear, jewellery, bags and gifting.
- Leading product compliance, safety and testing, ensuring we meet regulatory requirements across the markets in which we operate.
- Keeping ahead of regulatory change and ensuring new requirements are embedded effectively across our business and supply base.
- Working collaboratively with Buying, Design and Sourcing from the earliest stages of product development to improve quality and right-first-time delivery.
- Using returns, complaints and product-performance data to identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement.
- Setting supplier standards and driving supplier performance, governance, capability and continuous improvement.
- Leading sustainability and ethical trade programmes, including product sustainability, traceability, responsible sourcing, supply-chain transparency and waste reduction initiatives.
- Providing commercially balanced technical advice that considers quality, safety, sustainability, speed, cost and margin.
What we’re looking for
You’ll be an established technical leader from a fashion or multichannel retail environment, comfortable operating strategically while remaining close enough to the product and supply base to make an impact.
You’ll bring:
- Significant experience having worked as a Technologist and leading multidisciplinary Technical teams within fashion or multichannel retail.
- Excellent knowledge of product development, fit, construction, manufacturing, quality assurance, product safety and compliance.
- Experience across apparel and ideally non-apparel categories such as accessories, footwear, jewellery or gifting.
- Strong knowledge of product testing and regulatory requirements, including children’s product safety.
- Experience working with international suppliers and driving improvements in supplier performance, governance and capability.
- Experience of sustainability, ethical trade, responsible sourcing and supply-chain transparency, ideally within fashion or retail.
- Strong commercial judgement and the confidence to challenge and influence at senior level.
- A collaborative leadership style and genuine passion for developing people and driving positive change.
