Our story began with one man and his vision; to bring vibrant, colourful, hand-crafted artisan clothes from faraway places to the markets of London. It is a journey that started on a hippy commune in Ibiza, 1970, and finished with an overland trip east, through Afghanistan and India. Now found in West London, we’re creating vibrant products, and sharing endless discovery. 

We’re now looking for a Designer to join our Accessorize design team. The role will provide vision and design direction for all Handbag product categories; initiating and managing the critical path and creative design development across the collection that is cohesive; contributing to the overall Brand Strategy to maintain brand and range evolution in line with business objectives.

What will you do as a Designer? 

Planning and Design 

  • Identify seasonal trends as appropriate for the Accessorize customer, including key fashion profiles, colours, fabrications and ‘must haves’ for the season. Contribute to and oversee strong and new reference material including industry knowledge and research for the department to use throughout the season. Ensure identified trends are actioned from initial concept through to sign off stage.  
  • Strong understanding of industry and competitor awareness, identify new opportunities and new product areas.  
  • Oversee, direct and produce design briefs within your area, ensuring the team maintain a professional standard of briefs relevant to the Accessorize handwriting  
  • Present at reviews and theme presentations 
  • Regularly review best practice and ways of working to achieve highest standard of design 
  • Ensure all designs are delivered in line with company strategy 
  • Create unique designs that deliver newness and commerciality right for the Accessorize customer.  
  • Manage and lead appointments, contribute to support management of budget 
  • Advanced level of CAD and hand sketching ability. Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills essential  

Critical Path Management 

  • Manage and drive departments critical path to support Head of Design, highlighting any areas of concern or opportunity 
  • Ensure all designs are up to company standards and are communicated to suppliers in line with the critical path ​

People and Management

  • Plan induction for new employees 
  • Support Head of Design ensure company/department information is communicated effectively to team through weekly huddles, team meetings etc. 
  • Coach and Develop team members 
  • Identify team training needs  

Health and Safety 

  • Ensure a safe working environment by complying with Health and Safety Guidelines and take action to deal with any issues 

What you will need to succeed as a Designer? 

  • Experienced designer with creative and technical ability to design multi-product collection 
  • Experience in supplier relationships and development across multi-regional supply base  
  • Collaborative approach to range development with a strong understanding of buying, merchandising and technical functions 
  • Strong eye for attention to detail design work and produces work to a high technical standard, with an excellent first sample hit rate. 
  • Forward thinking and innovative.
