We're on an excited journey to find a Designer for East - a smaller brand sitting under the Monsoon Accessorize umbrella, known for our modern artisan crafted designs. Reporting into the Brand Director, you will be developing and desinging original ranges in line with the overall brand strategy, handwriting and business objectives. This is an exciting opportunity to be apart of a small and growing brand with sustainable and ethical production at the forefront.

What will you do as a Designer?  

  • Create aspirational woven collections which deliver newness and commerciality across all areas with a strong passion for modern Indian artisan craft. 
  • Working alongside the Print & Embroidery Designer to deliver modern silhouette with a unique East print handwriting 
  • Trend research and Sourcing - Identify and present seasonal trends as appropriate for the East brand including key fashion prints, embroideries. and colours for the season
  • Contribute to new reference material, including industry knowledge and research for the department to use throughout the season
  • Compile strong reference material, including researching, catwalk and comp shop trend and compiling mood boards and colour palettes.
  • Producing / creating design specs and embroidery layouts 
  • Ownership of the collection delivering a balanced and strategic range
  • International travel may be required
  • Where required assist in the planning of the Critical Path for product areas, ensuring effective communication with suppliers and relevant team member
  • Meet deadlines and the critical path

What will you need to succeed as a Designer? 

  • Established Junior Designer with a minimum of 5 years experience 
  • Passionate and enthusiastic for Indian artisan craft (Block, Tie-Dye, Embroidery, Embelishment)
  • Passionate about textiles, colour and print 
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work under own initiative
  • Confident and articulate communicator with an ability to build strong working relationships
  • Ability to deliver to tight timescales and work under pressure.
  • A good eye for occasion woven product, soft and structured, with a good understanding of embroidery and embellishments.
  • Fabric sourcing ability and good technical skills to develop beautiful products and first samples.
  • Confident in presenting collections/concepts and pitching ideas across the team.
  • Confident and versatile people skills to influence and persuade wider team to vision.
  • Ability to demonstrate and understanding of ‘brand handwriting’
  • CAD Skills- Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator
  • Quick and accurate ability to hand sketch designs, attention to detail.
