We are looking for a Garment Technologist to support the technical team at Monsoon to deliver efficient technical processes and drive product quality across children’s garments and accessories. Through collaboration, with buying and design you will also help to ensure the products developed, are technically feasible and in line with pricing structure. In addition, you will provide ongoing technical input across all teams on a day to day basis. 

What will you do as a Garment Technologist? 

  • Have an understanding of technical capability of suppliers, including factory visits and audits (including the developing of CAP’s)
  • Work with offices to ensure suppliers on boarded to ensure a smooth transition into the business
  • Manage issues to be taken up with suppliers, keeping buying teams and offices informed and develops supplier improvement plans
  • Follow up on ethical non- compliances from SMETA report, during factory visits and carry out ethical risk assessment, based on H & S issues
  • Work with category team to deliver product strategy
  • Ensure adherence to the required sealing process from initial prototype to production sign off (including critical path adherence and management) Drive improvements where required
  • Work with design/buying teams during product development to get as many samples ‘right first time’ as possible
  • Risk Assess products to ensure product feasible, safe and legal products
  • Work with suppliers to achieve the most cost effective production methods to deliver the required quality standards
  • Ensure all products are effectively managed through the appropriate testing and care /safety labelling requirements including the management of new fabrics/ components
  • Understand block / size requirements on relevant category and ensure they are consistently applied across all products (clothing)
  • Actively adopts a Quality Assurance approach to all areas of role
  • Driving product forward in terms of fit, construction and technical performance in order to meet customer expectations
  • Carry out overseas travel as required to develop supply base and product

What will you need to succeed as a Garment Technologist? 

  • Proven experience at Junior Technologist and Assistant Technologist Level
  • Can confidently self-manage products, buyers and suppliers ensuring commercial requirements are met.
  • Degree educated or equivalent in recognised textile qualification
  • Proven experience of product; womenswear, childrenswear or accessories
  • Passionate about Monsoon Accessorize product and getting the right quality product in stores for customers
