We are looking for a Knitwear Designer to lead and drive the knit department in developing and designing original ranges in line with overall Monsoon Accessorize brand strategy for the season which is in line with the handwriting and business objectives. 

We are looking for an exceptional, best in class designer to join the team and drive new brand awareness with contemporary design focusing on colour, pattern and attention to detail.

What will you do as a Knitwear Designer? 

  • Trend research and Sourcing - Identify and present seasonal trends as appropriate for the Monsoon Accessorize brand including key fashion shapes, colours and pattern for the season.
  • Contribute to and oversee strong and new reference material including industry knowledge and research for the department to use throughout the season.
  • Compile strong reference material, including researching, catwalk trend and compiling mood boards and colour palettes.
  • Source new seasonal yarns and update current yarn range.
  • Ensure identified trends are completed through to sign off stage.
  • Create unique, in-house collections which deliver newness and commerciality.
  • Producing/creating design specs with detailed technical knitwear knowledge.
  • Ownership of the knitwear category and deliver new collections for department.
  • Daily communication with international suppliers on any technical enquiries.
  • International travel will be required.
  • Responsible for critical path planning of design time for Knitwear category and meeting deadlines.
  • Presenting ranges to management and internal teams.
  • Create pattern and stitch artworks including embroidery designs.
  • Working closely with buying and wider design team to achieve ‘the look’ within price ranges.
  • Working with the technical team, involved in 1st fit sessions, and any additional sessions required to develop the best product for our customers.

What will you need to succeed as a Knitwear Designer?

  • Established Junior Designer or Designer with creative and technical ability to design knitwear collections, across all catagories.
  • Understanding technical yarn capabilities including gauges, stitch, quality and sustainability.
  • Passionate and enthusiastic.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work under own initiative.
  • Confident and articulate communicator with an ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Ability to deliver to tight timescales and work under pressure
  • A good eye for knitwear product, colour and trends.
  • Highly organized, and detailed orientated.
  • Confident in presenting collections/concepts.
  • Ability to demonstrate and understanding of ‘brand handwriting’
  • CAD Skills- Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator
  • Quick and accurate ability to hand sketch designs or Illustrator
  • Confident with pitching ideas and presenting to wider teams
