Monsoon is on an exciting journey having identified where we want to be and how we’re going to get there.  Monsoon’s journey began in 1970 with founder Peter Simon embarking on a life-changing trip across Asia and coming back to London where he started his first stall on Portobello Road.  Wanting to share the colourful inspirations from his experience, the first Monsoon collections featured beautiful bohemian clothes made in Indian villages using hand-loomed cotton and silk fabrics, organic vegetable dyes and artisan block-printing techniques still used within our production process today.
As a founder member of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), Monsoon have been at the forefront of driving sustainable improvements in working conditions and livelihoods wherever we do business. Believing in the positive power of trade rather than aid we have always connected our British contemporary designs with our network of craftspeople in villages and small communities across the globe to give them sustainable independence. We still work with some of the same craftspeople as we did in 1973, with new generations joining the family business over time.

Our product collections are getting stronger with each season, and we use pioneering techniques to make our product and process as sustainable as possible.  By 2023 over 95% of all our cotton will be organic, recycled or BCI approved.  By 2023 all our synthetic fabrics will be made from recycled or more sustainable sources.  These are elements that make Monsoon so magical, and these are the stories we need to tell.

The Social Media Manager will play an integral role within Monsoon’s new brand strategy, managing the day-to-day running of Monsoon’s global social media channels. You will work closely with the wider Marketing, Digital, Product, Sustainability and in-house Creative teams to bring our brand story and inspirations to life through social.

You will be a confident communicator with an expert understanding of the social media landscape and its complexities. As an analytical thinker, you will have the ability to turn data into actionable insights to support channel growth.

What will you do as our Social Media Manager?

  • Work closely with the Marketing Director to understand the new Brand Strategy and come up with solution to bring it to life across our social spaces
  • Develop organic plans for brand and product launches, key cultural moments and events.
  • Educate internal teams around best practice social media strategies, commercial tactics, new formats and content.
  • Work closely with the paid social team to ensure we are saying the same thing across the same channels at any one time.
  • Work up social media strategic responses to marketing campaign briefs, partnering with channel leads and marketing stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Manage the planning, publishing and optimisation of content across Monsoon’s global social channels.
  • Communicate plans to internal marketing and creative stakeholders.
  • Build a relationship with our followers, ensuring you respond to key comments, representing the brand TOV.
  • Generate ideas and requirements for social content in response to campaign briefs, working closely with creative and marketing stakeholders.
  • Work with creative teams to ensure content is shot for our social platforms and adheres to best practice.
  • Identify influencers to work with, producing unique content in line with our brand strategy.
  • Deliver weekly and monthly campaign reporting across organic activity including competitor benchmarking where available.
  • Conduct social listening and monitoring to understand brand sentiment and performance to inform future thinking.
  • Communicate and distribute performance reports to key stakeholders.

We'd love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Experience leading social media particularly Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Instagram - preferably within a retail environment.
  • Experience driving community and engagement through social media - and understanding of what engagement metrics are of importance to a quality retailer.
  • Experience of different digital storytelling methods as applied to social media - particularly video and animation.
  • Competent in extracting insight from analytics tools, and the ability to make decisions about social media activities based on analytics when appropriate.
