Our Monsoon Childrenswear department are looking for a Merchandiser to join their Day/Beach and Outerwear team. As a Merchandiser you will be driving profit and growth through efficient stock management, using sales and buying plans whilst reinforcing the brand. Planning, and effectively managing stock levels totally and across all channels in order to maximise profit through sales; managing markdowns and promotions.


Key Responsibilities

Critical Path Management

Planning and Design

  • Create seasonal sales and buying plans that will maximise commercial opportunity.
  • Ensure a balanced range is bought.
  • Advise buyers on quantities of products.
  • Constantly review sales and stock against plan & last year to identify areas of risk and opportunity.
  • Re-forecast sales for relevant product areas in order to monitor OTB and terminal stock levels.
  • Suggest appropriate sales strategy, in line with trading conditions and business objectives.
  • Review systems capability to highlight areas that can be enhanced and implements upgrades in line with department needs.
  • Ensure personal KPIs are met such as; Return on Sales, Profit – Full Price Sell Through, Launch Availability & Planned Stock across all channels and Terminal Stock.

Team Support

  • Work closely with Buyer and Designer to develop and build category strategy.
  • Support the merchandising team in creating seasonal sales and buying plans that will maximise commercial opportunities.

People and Talent Management

  • Plan induction for new employees.
  • Support Head of Merchandising to ensure company/department information is communicated effectively to team through weekly huddles, team meetings etc.
  • Coach and Develop team members.
  • Identify team training needs.
  • Carry out appraisals, PDR’s and PDP’s.


What will you need to be successful?

  • A proven track record in multi-product
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify key market product trends and emerging opportunities in line with customer profile
  • Experience of managing a team, overseeing product direction, and managing sign offs and working cross functionally
  • Desirable
  • Educated to Degree level
