Monsoon Accessorize’s people are great and from an IT perspective, we pride ourselves on implementing and maintaining resilient business systems. Retail is a 24hr business, so our systems need to be available 24/7. Even if our UK shops are closed, our International Stores will be trading and our merchandise systems and warehouses will be active.

I started working for Monsoon Accessorize after leaving university. I was fortunate enough to gain great experience across the entire IT function before settling into the Business Intelligence sector. After 4 years working as a Business Intelligence Analyst, I decided that I needed to see how Business Intelligence worked in different industries. After nearly two years at a broadcaster and very successful projects, as well as a great deal of experience, I was informed of a new opportunity at Monsoon Accessorize and decided to come back.

My new experiences, coupled with the previous knowledge of Monsoon systems allowed me to take on my new position as Head of Business Intelligence with the company. My new role enables me to maintain and improve existing systems and explore new areas in which Business Information can be captured and used to make better informed decisions that can lead to greater sales and profit.

My typical day: I’ll arrive at work and do a quick check to ensure all systems and daily reports are available to the business. I’ll then catch up with my team to understand workloads and what the day’s activities will be. Next, a meeting with the project management team to discuss our major projects and feedback on tasks from the previous week, also discuss any operational issues we may be facing.

If it’s Wednesday, I use my lunch break to get a game of 5 a side in with the Monsoon Footballers! In the afternoon I’ll be working on key projects – I also perform daily checks to ensure systems are ready for overnight processes. I’ll leave at 6, sometimes for drinks or a pub quiz with my team.
