I’ve been surprised since I began working at Monsoon Accessorize’s distribution centre about the number of interesting everyday challenges that we come across, helping us in our overall development as warehouse supply chain professionals. I have never seen such a happy work force in any of my previous employers – everyone truly wants to be here and works for a common goal.
I saw the advert in the local newspaper and applied via post. I got called in for an interview and got the job offer straight after. When I joined the company I started as an inbound team leader, but in the last 3 years I have been trained on all divisions/departments which has made me a complete warehouse all-rounder!
The distribution centre has a very diverse working environment, with an interesting mix of nationalities and backgrounds so there’s always someone with fresh perspective. Being a father of a 1 year old girl, I personally like the baby partywear collection and appreciate the employee discount!
My typical day: I arrive at work at 5:40 am – I do the early shift! I start by checking emails and meeting with Ops/Outbound Manager to discuss today’s allocations/work.
I’ll spend the morning collating all the reports from the team and emailing to all senior management, allocating sort/non-sort stock for UK and international stores and generating forecast reports for the following week for despatch and intake.
I’ll take a tea break before checking on my team members’ performance and providing coaching to them if required. From there, I head into a meeting with the international team to discuss new store openings for the next week that will require stock to be distributed. At 2 o’clock, I handover to the afternoon shift team leader and head home!
