What is a SWOT Analysis?

If you are invited to a face to face interview you will be asked to prepare a SWOT analysis. A SWOT is a business analysis tool and asks you to consider the Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats of our business. For our retail management roles this will be from a store perspective and you will need to prepare an analysis of two of our branches one must be the branch you are applying to. For our head office roles you will need to prepare your SWOT on the particular business division.

If you have not prepared a SWOT analysis before you may find the below information helpful:

Strengths

consider all the positive reasons why the store/business division is contributing to a positive experience for our customers/adding value to our business remember to be commercial and provide justifications for your reasoning.

Weaknesses

consider all the areas that you perceive to be having a negative effect on our store/business division. Please do not worry about offending your interviewer! We are very keen to hear about your ideas of how to improve these weaknesses so would highly recommend you are constructive in your criticism and provide us with ideas on how to overcome them.

Opportunities

this is your chance to highlight to us your ideas on how to improve our stores/business division please reflect on your previous experience and your understanding of what our competitors are doing too.

Threats

consider the external factors that affect our stores/business division. You may want to show an appreciation of our competitors and also the effect of the current economical climate.

You can find lots of information on the internet regarding this analysis tool so we would suggest doing some research if you are not too sure about what we are asking you to do. Alternatively one of our Resourcing Advisors will be happy to help you.

What should I wear to an interview/assessment centre?

Our dress code is smart casual, so there's no need for the three-piece suit! You don't have to wear Monsoon or Accessorize products to an interview with us. Remember, the interview is about getting to know you based on your skills and experience.
