Informed business decisions are key to us and we are looking for Business Intelligence Analyst to play an integral role in supporting our business functions. Part of your role will be to turn data into information, information into insight and insight into business decisions. You will get to help deliver the business intelligence strategy alongside working with management to prioritize business and information needs.

 

What will you do as a Business Intelligence Analyst? 

  • Capture business requirements leading to the production of report specifications. 
  • The production of reporting solutions and BI through MicroStrategy and SQL. 
  • Manage the scoping, development and delivery of small projects to the business. 
  • Act as the business representative for changes to reporting services and help the business to refine current processes. 
  • Pro-actively identify opportunities and make recommendations for improvements driving innovation with data and the use of technology whilst raising the profile of the team. 
  • Continuously monitor and improve business satisfaction with the quality of service delivered responding quickly to business requests for information, data & insight. 
  • Support existing Python scripts between various operational systems. 
  • Ability to define and develop new Python connections between various systems required by the business. 
  • Carry out system testing when relevant and manage user acceptance testing. 
  • Pro-actively flag risks or issues with recommendations on how to mitigate or resolve them. Demonstrate management of risks associated with Information Security. 
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the business, business strategies and IT roadmap with the aim of understanding how to deliver benefit through enhanced reporting and analysis. 
  • Maximise and exploit our information assets by providing the access, tools and training required to easily retrieve, utilise and gain insight from decision making data. 
  • Ensure that the project and service delivery teams and the business representatives have a clear and unambiguous expectation of reporting deliverables including priorities and timescales. 
  • Ensure that current and future reporting service requirements are identified, understood and documented. 
  • Become a subject matter expert and advocate of Business Intelligence within the company. 
  • Support the BI service for analytics and insight as well as delivering CAPEX projects. 

What will you need to succeed as a Business Intelligence Analyst? 

  • Experience of working within a BI and Analytics team. 
  • Experience of using MicroStrategy. 
  • Very good knowledge of SQL and ability to handle large datasets. 
  • Experience of working with databases and data modelling, ideally including semi structured or unstructured data. 
  • Highly numerate and excited to work with data, interpreting the numbers and translating them into actionable items. 
  • Excellent communicator with an eye for detail and the ability to explain complex logic to non-technical audiences.  
  • Possesses a positive “can do” attitude and can think outside the box to overcome obstacles. 
  • Possesses a “business head” with a focus on profit. 

Desirable 

  • Experience using BusinessObjects, Azure & Machine Learning.
