We are now looking for a Junior Buyer to come and join our Buying team, supporting the buyer in sourcing and developing our collection of small goods (travel, purses, cardholders, belts, umbrellas, lifestyle - phone bags, bag straps, jewellery boxes) and leather bags product ranges. This will be a busy and varied role, as an established Assistant Buyer you will work in support of your Buyer in sourcing, constructing and analysing ranges in order to maximise sales and gross profit. You’ll attend supplier meetings with the buyer and will play an integral part in building and maintaining strong and effective supplier relationships. You will play a part in coaching our buyer administrators and share your skills and experience to help build our future talent.

What will you do as a Senior Assistant Buyer?

Critical Path Management

  • Keeps up to date on trends
  • Reviews last season’s performance and creation of lessons learnt document
  • Undertakes some research through trade shows and some short inspiration trips
  • Support the development of category strategy, specifically by:
  • Supporting development of channel strategy
  • Working with merchandising team to agree a range and price architecture
  • Working with merchandising team to identify season price and promotion plan
  • Working with supply chain team to identify supply chain implications of the new category strategy

Range Building

  • Undertakes development trips and support in supplier development meetings (in partnership with the design team)
  • Ensures that any sourcing and supplier packs are in line with category strategy and themes
  • Attends fit sessions and puts forward solutions for any challenges
  • Ensures that samples are received within the critical path
  • Works with suppliers to ensure that all relevant samples are received
  • Conducts range building and range sign off, in line with the critical path ensuring that senior members of the brand team (as well as technical and design teams) have input and visibility of the progress throughout the process

Production/Shipping

  • Ensures all POs contain the right information and are raised  in line with critical path dates
  • Launch/In Season Trading
  • Work with merchandising to complete end of season review
  • Maximise in season trading through effective OTB management

People and Talent Management

  • Plans induction for new employees
  • Supports Head of Buying to ensure company/department information is communicated effectively to team through weekly team meetings etc.
  • Coach and develop team members
  • Identify team training needs

Other

  • Supports brand for all communication channels i.e. Product Surgeries, Press Day, workshops etc.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by complying with Health and Safety Guidelines and take action to deal with any issues

  • Proven ability to manage and develop team members to deliver
  • Proven range building experience, delivering over and above sales targets

  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent
